Ksquare Energy: How a Bootstrapped Solar Startup in India Is Powering 8,000+ Homes

Ksquare Energy started with just ₹15,000 in capital and a 150 sq. ft. room in Ahmedabad. Today, it is a fast-scaling solar energy startup in India, with operations across 23 states and more than 8,000 successful rooftop solar installations. The journey started in rural Gujarat and has significantly impacted the future of India’s solar energy sector. Ksquare Energy was founded by Kuldip Sorathiya in 2017. Heart of rural Gujarat, a remarkable journey began — one that would go on to shape the future of India’s solar energy sector. Founded by Kuldip Sorathiya in 2017.

🌞 Turning Challenges Into Clean Energy Opportunities

Denied an education loan due to a lack of I-T returns, Kuldip pivoted from disappointment to determination. He began as a commission agent selling third-party solar products but soon identified a major gap — poor quality control. This insight became the foundation of Ksquare’s transformation into a solar manufacturing company focused on reliability and performance.

🔧 In-House Solar Manufacturing: Built for Scale and Quality

Ksquare Energy manufactures essential solar components such as:

  • ACDBs (AC Distribution Boxes)

  • DCDBs (DC Distribution Boxes)

  • SCBs (String Combiner Boxes)

  • MCBs and solar cables

  • IoT-ready combiner boxes and smart SPDs

The company also developed Solsquare, a proprietary cable brand engineered for durability, thermal resistance, and insulation — compliant with CE, RoHS, and ISO standards.

“Each recurring issue in the field becomes an opportunity for product innovation,” says founder Kuldip Sorathiya.

🏆 A Key Player in the PM Surya Ghar Yojana

Under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, aimed at powering 10 million Indian homes through solar rooftops, Ksquare ranks among the top 10 vendors nationally. Gujarat leads this mission with 3.3 lakh+ installations, and Ksquare has played a pivotal role in this success.

To ensure timely subsidy disbursement and compliance, the company has a dedicated operations team that works closely with DISCOMs and local authorities, adapting to policy variations across states.

💻 Tech-Driven Solar Execution

Ksquare uses an integrated tech stack to streamline operations:

  • ERP-integrated CRM system for real-time lead and order tracking

  • Semi-automated production lines to ensure consistency and scale

  • Mobile field apps to manage surveys, documentation, and post-installation updates

This tech-first approach helps Ksquare deliver faster execution and superior customer experience in both urban and rural markets.

📈 Profitable & Bootstrapped Growth

  • FY 2023–24 Revenue: ₹74 crore

  • Growth: 56% YoY

  • 2025–26 Target: ₹225 crore

  • 2030 Vision: ₹1,000 crore revenue milestone

Despite being fully bootstrapped, Ksquare is now exploring strategic funding to expand fulfillment centers, scale up verticals like Blitz SPDs, and develop hybrid inverters.

🚀 Looking Ahead: Solar With Purpose

Led by Kuldip and Kalpesh Sorathiya, with Prakash Dobariya heading R&D, Ksquare plans to double its workforce to 250 and introduce two new proprietary solar products by 2026.

“We’re not just building a solar brand — we’re building a purpose-driven energy ecosystem,” says Kuldip.
