STT GDC to Invest Rs 3,500 Crore in Hyderabad Data Center Campus

ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (India) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Telangana government to establish a major data centre campus near Hyderabad, marking a significant investment in the state’s burgeoning technology sector.

The agreement, signed at STT GDC headquarters in Singapore, paves the way for investments of up to Rs 3,500 crore and underscores Telangana’s growing prominence as a preferred destination for large-scale technology infrastructure.

A Focus on AI and Future Scalability

The planned data centre campus, located in Meerkhanpet, Mucherla, on the outskirts of Hyderabad, will boast cutting-edge technologies, including AI-ready infrastructure. With a projected capacity of up to 100 megawatts, it will be among the largest data centre projects in India, offering ample room for future expansion and the integration of innovative technologies like artificial intelligence.

Welcoming the Investment

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy warmly welcomed the project, stating that the new facility would solidify Hyderabad’s position as a global hub for data storage and tech-driven services. He emphasized the city’s rapid emergence as the “capital of data centres” in India.

Bruno Lopez, President and Group CEO of ST Telemedia Global Data Centres, expressed the company’s honor in collaborating with the Telangana government. He highlighted the state’s progressive policies and commitment to digital growth, emphasizing that the joint effort would support economic expansion, create employment opportunities, and fuel India’s digital transformation.

Expanding the Telangana Footprint

The MoU aligns with STT GDC India’s broader objective of achieving a design capacity of 1 gigawatt across India within the next decade, translating to a long-term investment of approximately $3.2 billion.

With an existing data centre in Hyderabad’s HITEC City, this new campus will further solidify STT GDC’s presence in Telangana. This strategic investment underscores the growing demand for robust and scalable data center infrastructure to support the rapid growth of digital services, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence across India.
